Last week, our Indonesian distributor PT Indojaya Mitra Sarana has ordered five pieces of our Model 9680 for the pulp and paper industry in Indonesia. These models are being sold to the company ‘PT. Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper’, which is a part of the ‘Sinar Mas Group’. In this case, they will use our Model 9680 to measure the density of the green liquor. PT IMS has sold many Rhosonics Model 9680’s before for this application.
The process of recovering and regeneration of pulping chemicals consists of evaporation, recovery boiler and causticizing. In the recovery boiler, black liquor is heated. The dissolved organic material from the wood in this liquor is burned and from this energy, steam is produced. The smelt of this oven is diluted with water in the dissolving tank, producing green liquor.
Green liquor is the dissolved smelt of sodium sulfide, sodium carbonate and other compounds from the recovery boiler in the kraft process. The liquor’s eponymous green color arises from the presence of colloidal iron sulfide.
